The Lifeguarding Recertification course is designed to refresh your knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, you will renew your American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification for another two years.

To participate in the Lifeguarding Recertification class, you must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, and certification expired by no more than 30 days.

During the course, individuals will have the opportunity to review and practice their skills. Participants must pass the prerequisites, the final written test and three final skill assessments. Prerequisites include; Minimum age: 15 years; Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence (Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both). Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

Classroom Setting:

  • Instructor-led skills check
  • Classroom will be held in Wildcat Community Center Conference Room
  • All pool sessions will be in the WCC Pool
