  • Chisago Lakes Parents/Guardians of Special Needs Support Group

    Gather together with local parents of children with special needs to connect, discuss your experiences, share your knowledge and learn from one another. The discussion will be led by Chisago Lakes School District's Nora Boyle, a Lakeside Elementary Special Education Teacher who has benefitted from similar groups as a parent herself. No childcare provided at initial free meeting.

  • Chisago Lakes Wildcat Elementary Cheer Team

    We are excited to announce the addition of an elementary competition team to our cheerleading program! The team will include kids who attend elementary school in the Chisago Lakes (2144) school district and in grades 1st through 5th during the 2024-2025 school year. Cheerleaders will learn all the fundamentals of cheering and stunting, learn a full routine and compete in MCCA approved competitions. Cheerleading promotes physical activity, fosters teamwork, teaches discipline and time management, encourages leadership skill all while having fun with peers! Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:45pm at the High School starting in October and end the last week of January. Three Saturday competitions will be required. An initial payment at registration of $250 includes Uniforms, poms poms and competition fees. An additional fee of $100 will be required at the beginning of the season for music/choreography/bows.

    This diving program is for athletes who have had previous experience on the high school team or have diving team experience elsewhere. This session is led by Coach Hattie Opdahl. The main focus of this summer program is to work on upgrading and perfecting dives! It includes drill work, to work on both board work and technique.
  • Dividing Perennials

    Ages 14+ Most perennial plants need to be divided every 3 to 5 years to rejuvenate the plant. It is also an opportunity to expand the plant material available for your gardens without spending a dime. This course reviews the when, how, why and potential dangers associated with dividing plants. The course also identifies the optimum time for division of various plants and includes information on which plants should never be divided.
  • Drivers Ed. with Right Away Driving School-Partnered with CLCE

    Chisago Lakes Community Education and Right Away Driving School are teaming up to provide the service in greater detail to the Chisago Lakes Area. The class will be held right here on the CLHS campus in the Lecture Hall. Here are the parameters of the course. 30 HOURS OF CLASS: Students under 18 must complete 30 hours of in class instruction before they are able to take the permit test. Once the 30 hours of classroom is complete RAD will issue a “Blue card”. Students will take the blue card to the DMV as proof of course completion in order to take the permit test. Once your child passes the permit test at the DMV they can drive with someone over the age of 21. WHAT IS THE TYPICAL CLASS LIKE? WHAT IS NEEDED?: Monday- Friday. 3 hours each day. Our maximum amount of students in a class is 55. Students will need a highlighter, notebook, and writing utensil for class. We provide manuals. Usually class starts with review. The remainder of class incorporates chapter reading, worksheets, group activity, and chapter testing. WHAT IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO MISS A DAY?: Your child can join the same day they missed in the next Right Away class session. *Cost includes behind the wheel time with Right Away Driving school.     Have you ever wanted to play Fantasy Football but didn't know how?? Now is your chance to learn! This class will provide participants with the fundamentals of fantasy football. If you are new to fantasy football, this is the class for you! Participants will learn how to draft players (there will be a mock 4 round draft), understand important terms and abbreviations needed to succeed in fantasy football, be provided tools (websites) that make it fun and easy compete week to week, and how to begin a league. Participants will learn how fun and easy fantasy football can be. What participants will learn By the end of the class, participants would have fundamental understanding all offensive positions groups that make up the scoring in fantasy football. Participants will also participate in a fantasy football draft. Topics covered include: scoring in fantasy football, the waiver wire, the importance of bye weeks, trades, different kinds of fantasy football leagues, different drafting options (online vs in-person, how to access weekly lineup advice) and having fun!!! All participants will walk away from the class with a packet of everything that was discussed, online tools to be successful with fantasy football, as well as my email so that they can ask me questions anytime. Participants they will realize and understand how simple and fun fantasy football can be.

    Whatever you are looking for in the sport of fencing there is something for everyone! Fencing is a vigorous sport that develops stamina, quick reactions, speed, accuracy of movement and excellent coordination. More than a game, fencing requires a mental attitude of self-discipline involving total manipulation of mind and body in perfect harmony. It utilizes natural body movement to create simple and effective self-protection techniques with the sword. All participants are encouraged to have fun no matter what their ability. Attacking, defense, timing and intense tactics are all integrated into this beginning class. Whether you're fencing for a good work out, or gaining points for the Olympics, fencing is fun for the whole family. We provide everything needed to fence (mask, jacket, glove, and weapon). Fencers should come dressed comfortably (for freedom of movement) including long sweat pants and running shoes.
